Design Features:
Obverse:
A white enameled Maltese cross with gold trim and ball finials at each arm.
A central blue enameled medallion bearing a gold portrait of Francisco Morazán, encircled by the inscription: "FRANCISCO MORAZÁN 1792-1842."
Surrounding the cross is a green enameled laurel wreath, symbolizing honor and victory.
Suspended from a detailed golden pyramid with fortress imagery, representing strength and national defense.
Reverse:
Features a radiant rising sun above a mountain landscape, a symbol of liberty and hope.
The surrounding inscription reads: "REPUBLICA DE HONDURAS LIBRE SOBERANA E INDEPENDIENTE" (Republic of Honduras, Free, Sovereign, and Independent).

Historical Significance:
The Order of Francisco Morazán was established in 1941 to recognize extraordinary achievements in military, scientific, literary, artistic, and humanitarian contributions.
Initially, the order had only one grade, but in 1956, five additional grades were introduced.
Today, it is awarded in seven grades: Grand Collar, I Class Grand Cross (golden breast star), II Class Grand Cross (silver breast star), Grand Officer, Commander, Officer, and Knight.
The Grand Cross is exclusively awarded to Heads of State.
Named after Francisco Morazán Quezada (1792-1842), a Honduran political and military leader who sought to unify Central America and was President of the Federal Republic of Central America (1830-1839).
